The County History portion seeks to give
in a simple fashion the story of the beginnings, progress and
present condition (1913) of the twenty-five counties in Missouri
forming the Northeast Section of the state. Generous aid has
been received from many men and women acquainted with local
history and interested in its preservation. To the advisory and
contributing editors, whose names appear on the following pages
and in connection with their respective chapters, grateful
acknowledgment is made. ED
Each of the County Histories have
different authors, they must have been given a choice as to how
they wanted to write the history and none are done in the same
manner. Many subjects are the same but others offer
nothing useful to the person in search of genealogy. I
have tried to highlight names in each county to assist the
searcher in finding their ancestors.
